Chamber of Commerce hosts Great Gatsby Gala

The Appling County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Gala on the evening of Thursday, April 17, at the Barn at Melan Farms. The theme for the evening was The Great Gatsby, and attendees wore 1920s-style outfits to match the decor.
Chamber President Bryan Shipes opened the program by thanking sponsors for their continued investment in Appling County.


Next was a video presentation highlighting Helene Heros–individuals who made generous and spirited efforts during the storm recovery period.
The Excellence in Ag Award was presented to Appling native Woody Folsom for his contributions to the agricultural community through endeavors such as Circle F Farms.


Employee of the Year was presented to Ruth Vaughn for going above and beyond in her work at Appling Healthcare.


Business Leader of the Year was presented to owner and CEO Richard Altman of Yurezz Home Center. Yurezz Home Center locations span the southeastern states of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Mississippi.


The Legacy Award was presented to David Williams for his contributions in music education and school administration. Williams has traveled the state singing Gospel Music and directed the ACES show choir.
Following a catered dinner, attendees enjoyed a night of lawn games, classic cars, and dancing with EYN Entertainment.


Tickets were entered into drawings and raffles sponsored by C&L Gifts and Circle F Outfitters.
