Basketball season has been off to a quick start at ACHS.

On Tuesday, December 2, the Pirates took on Brantley, where the boys team snuck by the Herons with a final score of 57-56, and the girls team also beat Brantley in a 44-39 victory. The Player of the Game for the Lady Pirates was Madison Jones, with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 9 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.
On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Appling County Varsity Girls Basketball team won their Appling County High School game against Wheeler County High School by a score of 56-29. The girls dominated through every quarter; Madison Jones went 6-for-14 on her way to 15 points and eight steals, and Makayla Williams posted six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The Lady Pirates have started the season off with a 2-0 record.
The Player of the Game against Wheeler County was Shamiah Barnum, with 4 points and 7 steals. “She held one of the state’s top scorers, who averages 25 points to 7 points,” said Coach Roderick Ringgold.

Following the Lady Pirate game, the team took the court to honor Coach Jessi Stallings with a covered chair to be placed in her memory at every season game.

After the girls played, the boys team took the court against the Bulldogs. The Pirates entered the half down by one point, with the score at 23-24. The boys team came up short in the end, with 48-52 the final score on the board.
