MYRTLE JEANETTE BECKWORTH


Myrtle Jeanette Beckworth, 88, of Baxley passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Mrs. Beckworth was born on March 17, 1938 in Appling County to the late Benjamin Lanier Wolfe and the late Verdie O’Bright Wolfe. She was a retired lunchroom manager for the Appling County Board of Education and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Beckworth was a talented seamstress and enjoyed decorating for special events. She especially enjoyed collecting knick-knacks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Farris Beckworth; sons, Jimmy Beckworth and David Earl Beckworth; grandsons, David “Scooter” Beckworth and Toby Keith Beckworth; sisters, Helen Eason Drawdy and Linda Gail Murray; and brothers, Robert Wolfe, Benjamin Wolfe, and Larry Wolfe.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Jesse) Stone of Baxley; son, Keith (Lynn) Beckworth of Eastman; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Eric) Gill of Baxley; five grandchildren, Katrina (Jason) Aycock, Eric Stone, Ashley Stone (Chris Hunt), Dana (Casey) Mullis, Cole (Krissie) Beckworth, and Carter Brown; and special friend, Carolyn Weaver. Ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Altamaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Dannie Hix and Rev. Bryant Bishop officiating. Interment followed in Beckworth-Swinson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Cole Beckworth, Eric Gill, Casey Mullis, Eric Stone, Chris Hunt and Bob Stone.
Musical selections were rendered by Lori Lewis and Eric Stone.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
