NICK CHARLES CAMPBELL

Nick Charles Campbell of Baxley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and now celebrates with our Jesus and his loved ones who awaited him in Heaven.
Nick was born to Benjamin and Lucille Campbell on January 13, 1948, the second of their four children. He graduated from Appling County High School and studied in Washington, D.C., before completing his degree in Criminal Justice at Clayton Junior College. He worked for the FBI prior to returning home to Georgia to work for the GBI, where he and a colleague, Tom Colter, established the state’s latent fingerprints department. Nick’s work in fingerprinting and his testimony during trials played an instrumental role in prosecuting multiple notorious criminals in the state of Georgia.
Nick married Janie Fossett on July 31, 1970, and they worked tirelessly together to build Anchor Investigations & Security, a successful private investigation and private security company in Daytona, Florida, before returning to Georgia in 1992. Nick retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections in 2008. Nick was deeply patriotic, a proud American who fully dedicated his life’s work to the safety and security of his fellow citizens.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Lucille Campbell, and his beloved son, Kyle Campbell.
Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Janie Fossett Campbell; son, Micah Campbell; daughter, Caitlin (Zachariah) Fenton; daughter-in-law, Katie (McLeod) Campbell; grandchildren, Jonah, Annabelle, Tobias, Porter, and Jameson, Brynlee and Ezekiel; and great-grandson, Skyler; brothers, Bill (Henrietta) Campbell of Baxley and Rex (Jody) Campbell of Port Charlotte, Florida; and sister, Debra (Tony) Pearson, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. A host of nieces and nephews, dear relatives, and friends also survive.
Visitation was held at First Assembly of God in Baxley, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning immediately after at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Assembly of God of Baxley, or to Gideons International.
