Appling Christian Academy recently celebrated its 2026 Homecoming ceremony and basketball game at Eagle Gym.
Prior to the Homecoming game and the crowning of Alyssa Summerall, ACA students participated in Spirit Week with fun activities and games planned throughout the week. In addition, the students were able to dress up in connection with various themes of the week. Students and faculty enjoyed the break from the regular routine. Homecoming week concluded with a breakfast in honor of the girls on the Homecoming Court and their moms, the basketball game and the crowning of the queen.
The court consisted of Annaleigh Rebecca Carter, a junior and the daughter of Robbin and Todd Carter; Alyssa Baylee Summerall, a senior and the daughter of Candice and Shawn Summerall;
Bella Faith Gray, a junior and the daughter of Megan and Kevin Gray; and Brailey Kate Hulett, daughter of Jessica and Brain Hulett.
Miss Alyssa Baylee Summerall was crowned the 2026 Homecoming Queen by last year’s Homecoming Queen, Miss Callie Crawford. Alyssa is the granddaughter of Darrell and Debbie Summerall and Billy and Jeanette Butler. She was escorted in the ceremony by her father.
Alyssa attends Baxley First Assembly of God where she is active in the youth group and leads praise and worship. Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 43:1 which says, “But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”
Alyssa has attended ACA for eight years. In those years, she has been a student athlete with participation in basketball and cheer. She has taken dual enrollment classes while pursuing her high school education. In addition, this was her second year on the homecoming court. Alyssa is a high school Honor Roll and Principal’s List student. In addition to being president of the ACA Honor Society, she has been recognized for numerous academic achievements including highest academic average in Geometry, Bible, History, English, and Spanish. Alyssa was the highest academic student in her Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years.
Her outside activities away from school include dance where she has participated in Encore All-Stars for the past fourteen years, reading and helping teach young girls at Encore Dance Studio.
Alyssa stated at the homecoming ceremony that the most influential people in her life are her parents. She says, “My parents have taught me to be a good Christian person. The greatest gift God has given to me is the opportunity to have been raised in a Christian household. My parents have taught me how to stand up for myself and for my faith. They are the best parents, and I am eternally grateful they have been given to me.”
She plans to continue her education after high school graduation at Liberty University to pursue a degree in Zoo and Wildlife Biology.
