On Friday afternoon, October 31, around 1:00 p.m., local law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to Prentiss Road, near the intersection of Highway 341 W. It was stated that a train and car had collided at the railroad crossing on Prentiss. The train struck the car, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch on fire. According to one report, a local deputy, a volunteer firefighter, and a witness worked to free an elderly couple from the vehicle. The driver and passenger were transported to the local hospital and then flown to a larger hospital for treatment.
