We have all heard of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Bible says six things the Lord hates, ye seven are an abomination unto him Proverb 6:16. The Bible lists them as a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. The concept of the Seven Deadly Sins was formalized by Pope Gregory the Great in the sixth century. These sins are seen as capital vices or cardinal sins because they are considered the root of many other sins. I was thinking about how our government is guilty of committing all these and more.
The ways in which government can be guilty of these Seven Deadly Sins are as follows: a proud look – this refers to arrogance, superiority, and an inflated self-image. In other words, we are the peasants they look down upon. A lying tongue – we all know if their lips are moving, they are lying, as witnessed by the political persecution of President Trump. Hands that shed innocent blood – Hillary Clinton is enough for this one. Benghazi is one of many examples in her trail of blood. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations – when political parties desire mastery over the other party, they fabricate lies to demonize the other party, whereas if the other party was right then the truth would be sufficient. Feet that be swift to running to mischief – when I think of this, I think of ANTIFA, which is the military branch of the Democratic Party. A false witness that speaketh lies – in the Bible, a false witness is one who would swear in court to help prosecute the accused. In the courts of New York, we witnessed Letitia James and Alvin Bragg use prosecution to persecute Donald Trump. Soweth discord among the brethren – if you do not believe this, just look at how divided our nation is.
The root of all of this is in Proverbs 22:6, which reads “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”Schools used to teach patriotism, the Pledge of Allegiance, and they had prayer and a scripture reading before class started. Now children are taught to hate this country and values it was founded on. Schools have been unionized by teachers unions. Unions such as the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) are to blame for a big part of this. I am thankful that in this county we do not see or deal with much of these things. There is something to be said for our small community in the deep south.
The government will continue to practice all Seven Deadly Sins, that is one thing we can be sure of, but what we can do is train up our children in the way they should go according to the Bible. They are our future, and change begins with them. Get your children in church to teach them the ways of God, and when they are grown, they will not depart from it.
