Johnnie Mae Reddish

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Reddish was a devoted wife, mother, and servant of God whose life reflected love, faith, and perseverance.
She was born on August 9, 1952, in Miami, Florida, to the late Daisy Mae Williams and George Wesley Williams. A proud graduate of Bacon County High School, Class of 1969, she later earned her Bachelor of Science in Education, specializing in Special Education, from Bretwen Parker College in 2005.
In 1976, Johnnie Mae united in holy matrimony with the late Mr. Henry Reddish, Sr. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love and faithfulness, and their union was blessed with four children: Stacey Williams, Gracenia Williams, Henry Reddish Jr., and James Reddish.
She was preceded in death by her brothers George Wesley Williams Jr., Roland Lee Miley, and Roy Williams, all of whom held special places in her heart. She also cherished her extended family, including her stepsister, Carmen Lowery, god-daughter, Karen LaDonna Rogers, brother-in-love, Elliot Reddish Jr., as well as her beloved sisters-in-love Christine Wright, Lola Shaw, Shirley Williams, Phyllis Coachman, and Georgetta Murphy.
Mrs. Reddish’s career began at Milliken and Ship and Shore before she joined the Board of Education, where she served faithfully as a Dietician, Paraprofessional in Special Education, and Bus Driver. She was admired for her dedication, kindness, and compassion toward others, especially children.
A gifted vocalist and musician, she sang with Big T and the Upsetters, later known as Big T and the Peacemakers, and the Baxley Trio. Her love for music and ministry brought joy and encouragement to everyone around her.
A faithful member of First African Missionary Baptist Church in Baxley, Georgia, she served as a Deaconess, Youth Director, and Assistant Music Director. Her devotion to God and her community left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Reddish lived a life filled with grace, purpose, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by her loving children, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely gave.
Baxley Funeral Home announces the passing and celebration of life services for 73-year-old Deaconess Johnnie Mae Reddish of Baxley who departed this life on Friday, October 10, 2025 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Celebration of life services for Deaconess Reddish will be held on Friday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, located 154 Comas Street in Baxley.
Visitation will take place in the church one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Oldfield Memorial Gardens located off Ten Mile Highway Baxley, Ga. The repast will follow in the First African Baptist Church fellowship hall in Baxley.
