The Appling County High School Lady Pirates Softball team is off to a hot start this season. The Lady Pirates are currently 3-1 on the season with their one loss coming from Glynn Academy out of Brunswick in a 2-1 game. The three games that they have won this season came against Pinewood Christian High School (score 5-1), Southeast Bulloch High School (score 6-1), and Ware County High School (score 8-0). The Lady Pirates will start region play this week as they travel to Pierce County this Thursday to take on the Lady Bears. Before that though, the Lady Pirates will take on Wayne County Lady Jackets at home on Tuesday. Keep a look-out for the score of that game if you don’t make it in person as this week’s edition of the News-Banner will be printed before the game. The Lady Pirates next home game after Tuesday will be next Thursday, September 4, against Crisp County. They will also travel to Wayne County earlier in that week on Tuesday, September 2. Come out and support these Lady Pirates as they begin region play and take on several tough rivals for the next couple of weeks on the road and at home. GO LADY PIRATES!
