On Thursday, August 7, at 11:20 a.m. the Appling County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to shots fired at Northside Park. Investigation revealed 35-year-old, Sammie Adams was shot by Montavious LaJames Wilborn, 23 years of age from Baxley.

Wilborn fled the scene after the shooting and was arrested later that afternoon by members of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Mr. Adams was flown to Savannah for medical treatment. This investigation is ongoing with additional criminal charges pending.
