NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The City of Baxley will hold a Called Meeting on August 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 282 E. Parker Street, Baxley, Georgia.  The primary purpose of the Called Meeting will be to conduct a Public Hearing, as well as, any other business that may come before the Mayor and Council. The Public Hearing will offer opportunity for comments on:

  1. APPLICATION FOR REZONING, Thompson Farm Supply LLC, E. Woody Folsom, located on 382 E. Parker Street, be rezoned from a business B-2 zone to a central business B-1 zone.

TRACT ONE: All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the City of Baxley, Appling County, Georgia, located on the southern side of and adjoining U.S. Highway No. 341 for a distance of 232 feet and running back southward for a distance of 210 feet, and being bound now or formerly as follows: Northerly by the right of way of U. S. Highway No. 341; Easterly by Third Street; Southerly by TRACT TWO as described hereinbelow; and Westerly by a ditch dividing from lands formerly owned by Otis Sapp, now owned in part by Carter Insurance Agency Inc. and in part by lands of BLT Holdings LLC. Said tract of land is more particularly described according to the courses, metes and bounds of a certain survey and plat thereof by H. K.   1. APPLICATION FOR ANNEXATION, Glenda Gail Pope and Lakisha Bryant, located on 1486 Hatch Parkway S, be annexed establishing a business (B-2) Zone.

All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in land Lot No. 283 of the Second Land District of Appling County, Georgia, being more particularly described as follows: Commencing at a point on the west edge of the right of way of U.S. Highway No. 1, which said point is the northeast corner of what is known as the Lions Club property located ons aid highway south of Baxley, Georgia; thence from said beginning point northward along the west ege of said highway a distance of 179 feet to the south edge of a road leading off westward from said highway; thence westward along the south edge of said road a distance of 21 O feet; thence southward along a line parallel with the west edge of said highway for a distance of 195 feet to the north boundary line of the Lions Club property; thence eastward along the north line of the Lions Club property a distance of 210 feet to the Point of Beginning.

Said tract of property being bound: North by said road dividing this property from property of Dillard Thomas; East by right of way of U.S. Highway No. 1; South by the Lions Club property and West by property of J.T. Reeves.

This being the same property conveyed to D.L. Thomas Jr. From J.T. Reeves by deed dated December 23, 1954, recorded in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Appling County, Georgia, in Deed Book 880, page 204.
