On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Willie James Norton Jr, 38, of Baxley was sentenced in Federal Court, Southern District of Georgia by the Honorable Lisa G. Wood to serve 132 months in federal custody followed by 3 years of supervised release for charges resulting from an investigation by the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
Norton pled guilty on March 19, 2025 before Judge Wood to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute (methamphetamine).
On November 15, 2023 members of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Nortons’ residence off Asbury Church Road resulting in the seizure of 345.9 grams of methamphetamine, 5.4 grams of cocaine, $954.00 in U.S. currency, a firearm and other drug related items.
This case was adopted for federal prosecution. Norton pled guilty before Judge Wood on March 19, 2025 to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute (methamphetamine). The remaining charges were dismissed.
