Frankie Deen Blanton
Frankie Deen Blanton, 96, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away on June 17, 2025.
Frankie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spent her many years spreading joy and generosity to those around her, especially her family and loved ones. She was the fourth youngest of 11 siblings and the last surviving one.
Frankie was born in Baxley, on March 24, 1929. Frankie graduated from Baxley High School in 1945 and attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia, but it was back in Baxley where she met the love of her life. She married John O. Blanton, Sr., on March 29, 1947, and they would go on to have two children and many happy decades together. They would eventually move and settle in Jacksonville, Florida.
Frankie worked in Civil Service at the USN Regional Supply at NAS JAX. After 30 years of dedicated service, in which she won numerous awards for exemplary work as an employee, she retired in 1986.
Later in life, Frankie enjoyed traveling all over the world and developed a keen talent for painting. Her paintings hang in the homes of many family members and vacation homes around the Southeast. She also was an active and talented tennis player. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Orange Park Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in UMW circle, Altar Guild, and lending a helping hand where needed.
Frankie is survived by her son, John O. Blanton Jr. (Teresa) and daughter, Janet Blanton Robertson; grandchildren Delaine Janet Robertson, John O. Blanton III (Laura) and Dawn Robertson Powell (Carson); and great-grandchildren Halston Robert Powell, Perrin Emily Powell, Amelia Myrl Blanton and Ella Grace Westwood.
To honor Frankie, funeral services were held on June 25, at Orange Park Methodist Church. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m., service started at 11:00 a.m., and burial followed the service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in the Garden of Everlasting Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frankie’s name to Orange Park Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
