Dwain Earnest Hutto

Mr. Dwain Earnest Hutto, 86, of Baxley, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at his residence under the care of Community Hospice.

Mr. Hutto was born October 10, 1938 in Appling County. He was a faithful member of Hopewell Church and an honorable businessman, having owned Dwain’s IGA Grocery Store and Hutto’s Nut House. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a devoted husband, father, and papa.

Mr. Hutto was preceded in death by his parents, Dolfph and Emmer Burke Hutto, and Alphonso and Lessie Orvin Burke; siblings, Paul “Buck” Burke, Betty (Colin) Quinn, Sarah (Carlton) Varnadore, David Burke, and Raleigh Warren.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Yawn Hutto of Baxley; a son, Freddie (Jan) Hutto of Baxley; sisters, Rhoda Warren of Baxley and Linda (Bill) Inman of Fernandina Beach, FL; brother, Jimmy “Red” (Francis) Burke of Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Mary Burke of Baxley; and grandchildren, Chelsea (Eric) Hutcherson and William Hutto. A great-grandchild, River Ace Hutto, and several special nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hopewell Church with the Rev. Bobby Gale officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were James Clark, Andy Orvin, Marcus Shumans, Wayne Crosby, Dillon Edenfield, and Randy Branch.

Musical selections were rendered by Windy Orvin Hipps, Hopewell Church Choir and the congregation.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
