James Edward Turner

 

Mr. James Edward Turner, 85, passed from this life to his eternal home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Memorial Health in Savannah. Born in Bacon County, Mr. Turner was a lifelong resident of Appling County and a retired farmer. He was of the Pentecostal faith attending the Church of God. He enjoyed the mountains, especially Pigeon Forge, and he was an avid woodworker specializing in birdhouses and swings. James Edward was a big “jokester”. He loved to play jokes on others and enjoyed laughter and happy times.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Lillie (Tomberlin) Turner and his son, Stevie Turner.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, Gwen (Yawn) Turner, daughter, Tammy Weaver (Randy), daughter-in-law, Brenda Turner, brothers, Edsel Turner, Gene Turner (Ola Faye), and Ronnie (Joyce). The apple of his eye…and deeply loved are his grands and great grands, April (Jason) Carter, Kristin Tomberlin, Kevin (Megan) Weaver, and Brackson and Brantley Carter.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Nobles Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Mickey Tomberlin and Reverend Robert Tomberlin. The committal service will follow in Tomberlin- Paulk Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers are Randy Weaver, Kevin Weaver, Jason Carter, Brackson Carter, Brantley Carter, Austin Brewer, Jared Turner and Reid Turner. Honorary Pallbearers will be all in attendance.

The staff of Nobles Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James Edward Turner.
