The News-Banner has confirmed that Dr. Scarlett Copeland stepped down from her post as superintendent on Friday, June 9. It was originally reported in an agreement between the Appling County Board of Education and Dr. Copeland that she would work until June 30.
It is assumed that Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sandy Dominy will take on additional responsibilities normally handled by a superintendent until a vote occurs on a new superintendent. That vote is set to take place June 21.
The BOE also announced a called meeting for Tuesday, June 13, at 9:00 a.m. The two action items listed on the agenda included Signature Bank Card Change (adds Dr. Dominy to the signature card) and SP Design Invoices.
