BILLY BREWER

Billy Brewer, 79, of Graham passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
Mr. Brewer was born on June 17, 1947 in Jeff Davis County to the late Arthur Leon Brewer, Sr. and the late Louise Clifton Brewer. He was a member of Graham United Methodist Church. Mr. Brewer dedicated his life to service. He retired from the Appling County Sheriff’s Office after serving as a Deputy Sheriff for 44 years. Following his brief “retirement,” Billy returned to work in Jeff Davis County serving part-time as a Deputy Sheriff.
Billy loved his family deeply, including his pets. He leaves behind his best friend, Mattie. He is now reunited with his best friend, Kiki. Billy was known for his ability to make friends with anyone and his loving yet “rough around the edges” personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur “Art” Leon Brewer, Jr. and Randolph Brewer.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Waunell Williams Brewer of Graham; daughter & son-in-law, Rena & David Williamson of Graham; brother, Paul Brewer of Graham; sister, Betty Roberts of Aiken, SC; grandsons, Tripp Hardee of Savannah and Tyler Hardee of Graham; bonus grandchildren, Cody & Whitney Williamson of Lyons; and bonus great granddaughter, Kennedy Williamson. A host of nieces and nephews also survive, including his beloved niece, Paula Griffin.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Baxley First Church with Rev. Lauren West and Rev. Steve Meguiar officiating and a eulogy by Tripp Hardee.
Active pallbearers were Justin Sanders, Keith Mack, Gene Davis, Scotty Tanner, Danielle Williams, Brent Merritt, Kim Williamson, and Danny Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers were all active and retired law enforcement officers.
Interment followed in Graham United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Musical selections were rendered by Jeff Lewis and Tripp Hardee.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Graham United Methodist Church (c/o Anita Baucom, 1097 Campground Road, Baxley, GA 31513).
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
