HERMAN BENJAMIN SPELL


Herman Benjamin Spell, 80, of Baxley, ran into the arms of Jesus on Monday, June 1, 2026.  The Wayne County native attended New Life Church in Jesup and was a retired draftsman with Miles Construction. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, carpentry and refinishing many projects. Herman was predeceased by several siblings, Clara Yarbrough, Fred and Melvin Spell; his son-in-law, Dan Thornton.
Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Sharon Bennett Spell of Baxley; his daughters, Misty Thornton (Glenn) Dukes of Baxley and Bridgett Claiborne (T.J.) Chesterfield of Virginia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Matt Bales officiating. Interment followed in the Screven City Cemetery.  Active pallbearers were his family members.
Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
