Before I get into the remainder of my column this week, could I ask you for a favor? If you have a few moments this week, please remember a special young lady: Jessi Stallings. My son, Cole, and Jessi graduated together in 2018. She went off to college and came back home to teach and coach athletics in our school system. We have known her since they were small children, and she is truly one the sweetest young ladies in our community. Jessi is in the battle of her life right now due to an illness. Please keep Jessi and her family in your thoughts and prayers…
I’ve had a few things on my mind for this week’s column. First and foremost, since the government is shutdown, do we need to pay federal taxation? I mean surely the coffers are closed since the government is shutdown, right? No one should be at the U.S. Department of Revenue or the IRS, correct?
However, according to one report in the Washington Post I noticed over the weekend, government officials confirmed that Americans are still required to file and pay federal taxes on time, despite the government shutdown.
Wait just a cotton-picking minute here! If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. Why should we pay a government who is refusing to work to better our country? But then again, it may be a good idea to leave congress at home and keep those nitwits from making an even bigger mess of our country….
Did you know that we now live in a monarchy in the United States (sarcasm)? I thought we decided we didn’t want to live in a monarchy way back in 1776? According to all the fairies and clowns that dressed up early for Halloween and stood on the sidewalks across the country in protest of “No Kings Day” this past weekend, they believe our society is now a monarchy. Again, the United States is a Constitutional Republic, and we truly have “no king”, except Jesus Christ.
I wonder where many of these people got their professional looking signs? Maybe it’s time for our government to start researching who is promoting violent protests in our country to see who is behind the curtain. (Note: I did not say peaceful protests.)
One more item on this topic. Did you see the news video MSNBC shared? The said millions had turned out for the “No Kings Day” and showed a video of the supposed large rally in Boston. Come to find out, the reported video was from an event in like 2017. Yeah, we really trust MSNBC for great coverage. How are these people still on the air?….
What’s all this fuss about the Super Bowl Halftime Show? What is the Super Bowl? I haven’t really watched any professional athletics since wokeness entered the scene in professional sports. I will not be watching regardless…
For years our government has given lip service to the ongoing War of Drugs. Now people are getting their panties in a wad when we actually do something about the drugs coming into America that take away our friends and family members? Countries and cartels in areas such as Columbia, Venezula and Mexico better figure out there is a new sheriff in town.
“These cartels are the Al Qaeda of the Western Hemisphere, using violence, murder and terrorism to impose their will, threaten our national security and poison our people,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth cited. “The United States military will treat these organizations like the terrorists they are.”
