Nelma “Naomi” Ahl Fowler, 89, moved to her heavenly home Saturday, October 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Naomi was born on November 15, 1935, to Barney and Elese Rentz Ahl. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, sister, and “Meme”; she treasured her time with family and friends. She devoted her life to her husband, E.D. “Pete” Flower, for 68 years. Together, they raised two children and helped raise their two grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker and a devoted member of Zion Church of God, where she taught the little kids’ class and touched many lives, pointing them to Jesus with gentle words and songs for more than 30 years. The words any person who knew her would describe her as a “sweet, Godly woman.” Her family will miss the late-night fish fries, chocolate biscuits, and potato soup when they were sick, as well as Sunday morning church calls.
Mrs. Fowler is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Elese Ahl; her sister and brother-in-law, Veta Nell and Dalton Fowler; brother, Rayford Ahl, and sons-in-law, Lewis Kennedy and Virgil Carter; parents-in-law, Lurenda and Elmer Fowler.
Mrs. Fowler is survived by her daughters, Sheila Kennedy Carter, Rena (Shane) Lastinger; sisters, Dereta (Bernie) Kent and Sandra (Mike) Spivey, and sister-in law, Linda Ahl. Also, grandchildren, Kristan (Joe) Edenfield, Logan (Laura) Lastinger, and Karlee Lastinger. She leaves behind four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from Zion Church of God at 3:00 p.m. She lay in state, with visitation beginning at 1:30p.m. until the funeral hour at the church.
The Rev. R.M. Warren, Rev. Danny Horne, Rev. Mark Fowler, and Rev. Ronnie Rentz officiated.
Active pallbearers were Lee Fowler, Matt Fowler, Colby Kent, Chad Kent, Tim Ahl, Grant Corbitt, and Chris Corbitt.
Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance who were in her Children’s Sunday School classes.
In lieu of flowers, donations were requested to be made to the Building Fund of Zion Church of God or Gideons International.
Nobles Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Mrs. Nelma “Naomi” Ahl Fowler.
