Ever heard the term “live within your own means?” Most people (including myself) have had times when they had to figure out what this statement truly means the hard way. It simply means to not spend more than you make.
Many people live paycheck to paycheck. Some are living on a fixed income and life can be hard when things like inflation hits or the cost of medications rise. We are often faced with difficult decisions.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our government leaders could learn to live within their own means? Stop overspending our tax dollars or borrowing from future generations.
As of writing this editorial, the US National Debt sits at $37,305,560,900,000.00 (that’s trillion). That equates to $108,679.00 debt per citizen or $323,054.00 per taxpayer.
One bright spot over the past year has been the Department of Government Efficiency or D.O.G.E. Since President Trump formed this agency, it has saved the taxpayers $616,758,466,000.00. That’s a savings of almost $6,000 per taxpayer.
Maybe D.O.G.E. should be instituted in every level of government.
