Letter to the Editor
There is an Arc de Triomphe in Paris that commemorates the freeing of Paris in WWII. We all know that Paris is the capital of France. There are the same types of arches in Rome that date to the time of the Roman Empire.
Why are we trying to get one built in Washington D.C.? Why are we renaming buildings in Washington D.C.? Why are we rebuilding part of the White House? Why now? There are millions of people in this country barely able to make ends meet. I’m sure we all know someone.
Rome rules over Israel when Christ was born, crucified, and resurrected. At this time of year, we are celebrating His birth. I’ve been taught all my life that Christians should live in a way that follows Christ. Why are we doing and building things like the Romans rather than helping the less fortunate like what Christ teaches?
Rome was destroyed and Christianity lives on. Are we trying to be like the Romans or are we trying to follow Christ? At this season of the year, it is important to remember that we have a choice and why we have a choice. I pray that we will make the right choice. Which will you choose–the Roman way, or Christ’s way?
