Nicholas Dale Overstreet

Nicholas Dale Overstreet, 46, of Vidalia, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Nick was born December 25, 1978 in Appling County. He graduated from Appling County Comprehensive High School in 1997 and pursued his secondary education at Valdosta State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 2001 and a master’s degree in public administration in 2002. While at VSU, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He also received a Certified Public Manager Degree from the University of Georgia in 2021. He served as City Manager for the City of Alma (2008-2016) and the City of Vidalia (2016-2023). Nick was a member of the Rotary Club of Vidalia, Alma Lion’s Club, and served as a board member of the Valdosta State University Alumni Association. He was currently employed as a program manager with Roberts Civil Engineering. In addition to his distinguished career as a public servant, Nick was known as being a great friend and encourager to all who knew him. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife and children immensely and was a die-hard Florida Gator Fan. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lucy Overstreet.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jennifer Lynn Overstreet of Vidalia; sons, Maddox Overstreet and Knox Overstreet both of Vidalia; father, Dale Overstreet of Baxley; sister, Jessica Overstreet of Tifton; parents-in-law, Henry & Donna Morris; sister-in-law, Lindsey (Steve) Johns of McRae; and David (Kaleigh) Douglas of Alma. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, & cousins also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Calvin Morris and Rev. David Deen officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were John Cole, Cody Guined, Matt Beecher, David Douglas, Justin Orvin and Andy Woodruff.
Musical selections were rendered by Luke Harrell and Joe Boatright.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Nick Overstreet Memorial Fund for Knox and Maddox Overstreet at Altamaha Bank & Trust in Vidalia or donate to a charity of your choice in Nick’s memory.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
