Byron Buxton
Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota Twins announced that Baxley’s Byron Buxton has been selected to play in his second MLB All-Star game of his career. Buxton will also participate in this year’s Home Run Derby.
So far this season, Buxton has had a battting average of .270 with 20 home runs, 53 RBI and 16 stolen bases on the year. Buxton also set new records earlier in the season by reaching his 100th stolen base. He set the record for the highest stolen base success rate in MLB history among players with at least 100 stolen bases. Along with all of these accomplishments this year, Buxton has also made some amazing defensive plays in centerfield for the Twins.
Buxton will come back home to Georgia to play in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta. The game will be held on Tuesday, July 15, in Atlanta at the Braves home field, Truist Park. The Home Run Derby will be held on Monday evening, July 14.
Congratulations to Byron Buxton on his accomplishments this year, and we look forward to watching you in the All-Star Game and for the rest of the season. Byron is married to Lindsey Tillery Buxton, also of Baxley, and they have three children. He is the son of Carrie and Felton Buxton of Baxley.
