NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS

The City of Baxley will hold a Called Meeting on June 5, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 282 E. Parker Street, Baxley, Georgia. The primary purpose of the Called Meeting will be to conduct Public Hearings, as well as, any other business that may come before the Mayor and Council. The Public Hearings will offer opportunities for comments on:

  1. APPLICATION FOR ANNEXATION, Milus Burkett, located on Steel Street, be annexed establishing a Business-Residential (BR-15) Zone.

Tract 1: All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the Second Land District of Appling County, Georgia, consisting of 5.84 acres, more or less, of original Land Lot No. 333, and bound, now or formerly, as follows: North in part by lands of Summerall Corporation, in part by what is designated as Tract 2A on the hereinafter referred to plat and in part by what is designated as Tract 8, on the hereinafter described plat; East by lands of Knight Lumber Company, South by what is designated as Tract 5 on the hereinafter referred to plat and West by a county road, dividing from land of Bax-Steel.

Said land being the same as designated as Tracts 6 and 7 on a survey and plat thereof by Merlin J. Tomerlin, County Surveyor, dated April 29, 1977, and a copy of same being of record in Office, Clerk of Superior Court, Appling County, Georgia, in Plat Book 9, page 31, incorporated herein by reference for descriptive and all other legal purposes. Said land being more particularly described as follows: Commence at the northwest corner of tract of land formerly owned by Isabelle Gordon and from said northwest corner run due West a distance of 208.7 feet: thence turn and run due South a distance of 208.7 feet; thence turn and run due West a distance of 208.7 feet; thence turn and run due North a distance of 208.7 feet to the Point of Beginning.   1. APPLICATION FOR REZONING, Jeremy Wiggins, located at 637 Fair Street, be rezoned from an R-15 to an RM-10 zone.

All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Land Lot No. 293 of the Second Land District of Appling County, Georgia, being in the City of Baxley, and consisting of Lot Numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, and 12 of Block 2, Fairview Subdivision, a plat of said subdivision by W. L. Woodard, Surveyor, being recorded in Plat Book 1A, Page 46 in the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court, Appling County, Georgia, which plat is incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof for descriptive and all other legal purposes.

Said tract being bound, now or formerly, as follows: Northerly by the Southern right of way of Kent Street (formerly known as Pine Street); Easterly by the western right of way of Peachtree Street; Southerly by the northern right of way of Plier Street (formerly known as Bennet Street); and Westerly by the eastern right of way of Fair Street (formerly known as Mill Street).

This being the same and identical property conveyed in three deeds: (1) by deed dated October 31, 2019 from Geraldine Wiggins to the Geraldine Wiggins Trust dated October 16, 2019, recorded at Deed Book 569, Pages 804-806; (2) Tract One in that certain deed dated October 31, 2019 from Geraldine M.
