My way, right now!
Don’t you just love the attitude of our society today? Many call it the Burger King Society. Have it… “Your Way, Right Now.” You can certainly tell there are a lot of folks who have never swigged water from a water hose.
For some people, it’s just really hard to comprehend that we have other customers. We have found this especially true with our printing company. Most folks understand that when they place an order, they are placed in a line and their order will be done once all orders ahead of them are completed.
But then here comes Mr. or Mrs. Burger King.
“Is my order, that I placed yesterday, ready?”
“Nope. We are currently working on the other 30 orders, that we told you were ahead of you, and are still ahead of you. I’m sure you will call back tomorrow and ask again, and guess what, you are going to get a similar answer tomorrow.”
Over the weekend, I learned that some special individual attacked one of our newspapers due to not having certain information listed in the newspaper last week. What that individual failed to consider is that newspapers do not have an open-ended deadline each week. At some point, we must cut off taking material to have time to design the newspaper and print it. The information is in the newspaper this week due to the fact we received the information before this week’s deadline. What people also don’t consider is that this private company employs roughly 15 people each week. When people present falsehoods about private companies, maybe they don’t consider that their falsehoods could cause damage to a company and jeopardize the livelihood of all the people who work there. But who cares right? “I want it my way, right now!”
By nature, I am an impatient person. Ask my wife, she’ll be the first to tell you. Often when we plan to go out to eat, if the restaurant says it will be more than 15-20 minutes, I will usually just go somewhere else. What I will not do is go on social media and blast that restaurant for not immediately finding me a table. There could be many variables as to why they could not sit me in a timely manner. More than likely, most restaurants are like just about every business that I talk to these days, they are struggling with staffing. Again, employees seem to only want to work on their terms. Again, “my way, right now.”
Myself included, let’s try to find a little patience with each other and try not to go for the jugular on private businesses. If the situation is serious enough, try contacting the owner first. Please stop for a moment and think before you insert your foot in your mouth (I have also done this a few times in my life too).
