DOROTHY MAE HOLCOMB

Dorothy Mae Holcomb, a beloved wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother also known as “Nana”, and sister, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice Satilla in her home on January 19, 2026 at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family and the peace of God.
The Wayne County native had lived most of her life in Appling County that was a life rooted in faith, love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a faithful follower of Christ and her life reflected her trust in the Lord and her commitment to caring for others. Her strength, grace, and quiet faith were an inspiration to all who knew her.  She and her husband of 57 years, Ruben Frank Holcomb built a home grounded in love, prayer, and faith that was filled with warmth, and laughter. She found joy in baking, crafting, sewing, gardening and nurturing beauty in the simple, everyday moments of life. Her parents, Lester Jones and Ruth Aspinwall preceded her in death along with her siblings, Larry, Harry, and Terry Jones.
Survivors are in addition to her husband are her children whom she reared with unconditional love and strong Christian values, Frankie Strickland (Brian), Heather Harper (Brad), and Frank Holcomb, Jr., all of Waycross; brother, Barry Jones of Kentucky; her precious grandchildren, who made her heart overflow with joy, Blaine Harper, Ethan Strickland, Adeline and Caroline Tuttle; great grandchild, Jaralynn Harper; several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory.
“Well done, good and faithful servant…. Enter in to the joy of your Lord” Matthew 25:23.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6.
A private family graveside burial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in the Odum City Cemetery with the Chaplain Steve Dees officiating. Active pallbearers were her family members.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
