Loretta Walker Browning

Loretta Walker Browning, 86, of Baxley passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at her residence under the care of Comfort Care Hospice and her loving husband of 66 years.

Mrs. Browning was born October 12, 1938 in Appling County to the late Oscar Walker and the late Lillian Hughes Walker. She was a member of 101 Church in Rockmart, Georgia. Mrs. Browning was a wonderful cook and a former employee of Frankie’s Italian Restaurant. She truly enjoyed the outdoors, whether she was working in her flowers, camping, or fishing. She played basketball for the Appling County High School Pirates and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby J. Browning of Baxley; daughters, Julie England of Powder Springs and Elica Browning of Atlanta; son, Bobby Browning of McDonough; brother, Wendell Walker of Baxley; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. James Cordell officiating. Interment followed in Odum City Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Byron Carter, Miles Carter, Trey Cordell, Walker Cordell, David England and Noah England.

Musical selections were rendered by Crystal Cordell.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
