Betty Jean Herrin

Mrs. Betty Jean Herrin, 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at St. Joseph’s /Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, after an extended illness. Mrs. Betty was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County, a Seamstress for Douglas-Harper in Baxley, and a teacher. She was a member of Memorial Freewill Baptist Church, a loving sister and aunt.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Roy Lanier Dykes, and Minnie Lee (Smith) Dykes; husband, Robert Herrin; and a sister, Glenda Jeffords.
Survivors include her brother, Troy Dykes of Surrency; sisters, Vivian Carter of Surrency and Janice Messer of Jesup; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at the Memorial Freewill Baptist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Mann officiating. Visitation was held one hour before the service at the church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Cody Bruce, Collin Bruce, Dustin Crosby, Ben Foster, Drew West, and Jacob Godwin.
Honorary Pallbearers were the members of Memorial Freewill Baptist Church and all in attendance.
The staff of Nobles Funeral Home was honored to serve the family of Mrs. Betty Jean Herrin.
