The Appling County High School Lady Pirate Softball team had two tough games this previous week. They started the week hosting the Wayne County Lady Yellow Jackets at home in a very tight game. After scoring three runs in the first inning, the Lady Pirates held the Jackets to no more runs in the game. The Lady Pirates mounted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth, scoring their first run of the game. Getting three quick outs at the top of the seventh, the Lady Pirates began their last push for the win as they scored another run and had a runner on second base. The Lady Jackets defense stood strong and held the Pirates from scoring the tying run in what was a thriller of a game.
The Lady Pirates made up for their loss on Tuesday as they traveled to Pierce County on Thursday to take on their region rival. Bats were hot for this game, as the Lady Pirates came out with the win over their rival with a score of 8-0, run-ruling the game in the 5th inning.
The Lady Pirates will be back at home this week on Thursday, September 4 to take on another region opponent, the Crisp County Lady Cougars. The Lady Pirates have also announced that they will have Teacher Appreciation Night and will honor all during the game. Come out and support the Lady Pirates as they fight for back-to-back region championships. GO LADY PIRATES!
