Choral Department hosts Spring Show
The ACHS and ACMS Choral Departments presented their final choral show of the year on Tuesday, April 1 at 6 p.m. in the ACHS Fine Arts Center. The show included the ACMS Choir under the direction of Robbie Tomberlin singing their chorus festival pieces, “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel” and “Shoshone Love Song” as well as “A Million Dreams” and “Lean on Me.”
The ACMS Centerstage show choir performed their competition show with songs, “Look for the Light,” “Danger Zone,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “I Put a Spell on You.” Centerstage won several awards this year at show choir competitions in Tifton and Rome, Georgia.
The ACHS Literary Music participants performed their competition pieces. Girl’s Soloist, Natalie Todd performed “Pur di Cesti” and “Watch What Happens.” Natalie won region and placed 6th in the state competition. Boy’s Soloist, Jaden Giles will perform “Danza Danza” and “Music of the Night.” Jaden won region and placed 5th in the state competition. Girls Trio with Camille Floyd, Dallas Johnson and Stacie Grandstaff sang “Gloria” and “The Bouquet.” The trio won region and placed 4th in the state competition. Finally, the Boys Quartet with Jaden Giles, Jacob Mann, CJ Sailem and Damaricus Green performed “Brothers, Sing On” and “What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor?” The quartet won both the GHSA region and the state competitions.
The ACHS Concert Choir performed their chorus festival pieces, “Esto Les Digo” and “Ain’t No Grave.” The chorus participated in the 8th District Choral Festival receiving one superior and two excellent ratings for their performance and a superior for their sightreading.
The ACHS show choir Appling Applause performed their competition show “Powering Through, From Darkness to Light” for the last time at this concert. The selections were: “Land of Confusion/Falls Apart,” “Evil Like Me,” “Light,” “Run Freedom, Run” and “Smile/Shine a Little Love.” The show choir had a successful competition year. They performed in Rome and Tifton competitions where they placed second at both.
The concert is free and open to the public. Many thanks to all who came out in support of these talented musicians and their award-winning night of music.
