Andrew James Goethie, affectionately known by his loved ones as “Daddy,” “Drew,” “Papa,” “Brother,” “Bruh,” “Uncle Bruh,” and “Go-Dee.” Born on September 19th, 1953, in Baxley, Andrew brought joy and love into the world from the very beginning.
Andrew was the beloved son of Andrew Lee Goethie and Juanita Hall Goethie. He grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, which included his many sisters and brothers. From a young age, Andrew exhibited a dedication to life and a passion for hard work that would define his years to come.
Andrew was formerly married to Blondell Hall Goethie, with whom he shared four beautiful children: Sondra Spearmon, Christina Goethie, Lanier Goethie, and Brandon J. Goethie. He was a devoted father, always putting family first and ensuring that his children felt supported and cherished.
Andrew was a man who truly loved life. He found joy in the simple pleasures and was often found outside, enjoying nature and the company of his family and friends. Whether it was hitting the road to support his loved ones at sporting events, show choir performances, pool tournaments, or simply being there for someone in need, Andrew’s presence was a constant source of strength and encouragement.
His dedication to his work was unparalleled, but it was his commitment to his family and friends that truly defined him. Andrew was known for his generosity and his willingness to go the extra mile for those he cared about. His warm smile and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Andrew leaves behind a legacy of love and unity, embodied by children; Sondra Spearmon of Augusta; Christina Goethie of Baxley; Lanier Goethie (Keonna) of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Semaj Goethie, Cedrina Sailem, and CJ Sailem; great grandchild, Zimari Goethie; Sisters, Carolyn Goethie Wright (James) of Ellabell; Mary Alice Gregory of Louisville, KY; Bernice Bynes of Atlanta; Doris Burkett of Surrency; Gloria Smith (Eugene) of Baxley; Vivian Vann (Lester) of Baxley; Rachel Ware (Lonnie) of Savannah; and Alfreda Goethie of Thomasville.
His brothers also carry on his spirit: Larry Goethie of Fort Myers, FL; Timothy Goethie (Darlene) of Simsbury, CT; Odell C. Goethie of Missouri City, TX; and John Paul Goethie of Olive Branch, MS.
Andrew James Goethie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His unwavering dedication to his family, his boundless generosity, and his love for life will continue to inspire all those he touched.
