Appling Healthcare hosted its annual Christmas breakfast banquet on Thursday, December 4. Revolving tours were presented of the facility and its different areas and departments.
The Radiology Department performs around 1,500 scans each month. “They don’t typically have any slow seasons,” said April Worth.
The new pharmacy is located at the front, near the outpatient registry. Pulmonary rehabilitation has been contracted for the last few years. Respiratory therapists were critical during COVID, when there was a high influx of patients with weakened respiratory systems and ventilators didn’t seem to be helping. The department documents up to 1,000 tests per month, not including those performed at bedside.
AHCS is also working to get the chaplaincy program up and running again, with a lot of help and support from Pastor Rick Brown.
The tour ended at the Pavilion rotunda, where parties are held for residents housed along several main hallways. Each guest is offered their own room for privacy, although exceptions can be made for family members.
Following the tour, guests were treated to a hearty buffet of sausage, eggs, bacon, waffles, and more in the cafeteria.
