Jessica Brooke Stallings

Jessica (Jessi) Brooke Stallings, 25, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons, and employed by the Appling County Board of Education as a teacher at the Appling County High School. All her students knew her as Miss S. Jessi dedicated her spare time to helping coach the Lady Pirates softball and basketball teams at the high school. She had a contagious laugh, never met a stranger, and loved sharing her faith with everyone she met. She lit up every room she walked into and made everyone she encountered feel special and loved.
Jessi was born and raised in Appling County and was happy to give back to the community she loved dearly. She was a Summa Cum Laude Honor Graduate from Appling County High School in 2018, where she was an AP Gold Medal Scholar. She was a member of the Lady Pirates softball team throughout high school and was All Academic 1st Team all four years, 1st Team All Region her senior year and helped her team earn the title Region Champs during her senior year, finishing in the Sweet Sixteen.
After high school, Jessi attended Shorter University, where she graduated as a Summa Cum Laude Honor Graduate with a Biochemistry degree and a minor in Psychology. While at Shorter University, she served as a resident advisor, a resident director, a member of the American Chemical Association, the Allied Health, and the Biology Club. Jessi was also a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries Leadership Team, a Peer Mentor, a member of the Hill Climbers, and Shorter Sabot. Her honors included the Tri Beta Biological Honor Society and the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society of the Social Sciences. She was selected and served on the 2021 Homecoming Court. In July 2025, Jessi received a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from the University of West Georgia.
She was preceded in death by Great Grandparents Mathie & Marjorie Griffin, Aunt Barbee Griffin, Grandparents Edwin & Julie Hutcheson, Aunt Kay Harrelson, and Grandpa Curtis Stallings.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Jill & Craig Pittman, father and special friend, Michael Stallings and Margaret Devlin, her sister and best buddy, Cierra Brea Stallings, stepbrother, Joshua Pittman, stepsisters, Alexis (Landon) Bray and Kaitlyn Pittman, grandmother Linda Stallings, grandparents Dwayne & Ann Pittman, Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Chris Peck, Aunt Stacey Gibson, Aunt Danielle Stallings & Uncle Allie Griffin, Aunt Bronda Faye Stallings, Uncle Charles & Aunt Diane Hutcheson, Uncle Kenny & Aunt Pam Hutcheson, Uncle Paul Harrelson, Uncle Allen & Aunt Leisa Pittman, Uncle Bob & Aunt Jurina Pittman, a host of cousins whom she loved dearly, best friend, Kylie Carter (Baby Jace), boyfriend Jeremy Ward, and her mini Australian Shepherd Charli Ann.
Visitation will be in the Nobles Funeral Home Chapel from 5-7 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
A funeral service was held Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. at the Baxley Church of God with the Reverend Michael Plowman and Reverend Gary Conger officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Randy Harrelson, Andy Harrelson, Brandon Harrelson, Caleb Gibson, Darrick Tillman, and Bryan Weaver.
Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Lady Pirates Softball and Basketball teams, colleagues at Appling County High School, Shorter University classmates, and all others in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made to the Appling County High School Lady Pirates Softball and Basketball teams.
