Mrs. Myrtice Everett, 87, of Baxley, left this earthly body and received her wings October 2, 2025 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Athens, AL. Mrs. Myrtice was born April 1, 1938 in Hazlehurst, to the late Elzie McKenley and Lena Mae Hand. She was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God. She lived in Baxley until the past 6 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel {Sam} Everett, son Felton Everett, in-laws Willie Jackson and Maggie Inez Johnson, sisters: Clara Hand, Louise Baxley, Juanita Floyd, Doris Harp, brothers: Hovis, Alton, Rabon, and J.E. Hand, sister-in-law Gladiola Dietzel, brothers-in-law Clayson Everett, Dwight Johnson, and D. E. Bracken.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine [Larry] McCord, Daughter-in-law, Vickie Carter Everett, grandchildren: Christina [Rodney] Haney, Julia [Willie] Lyons, Kari McCord [David] Moseley, Serena Everett [Andy Harrelson] great-grandchildren: Ashton and Dylan Crumbley, Paige [Tim] Barnett, Candace, Aaron (Rhiannon), Reygan, Mason, Karson, Jenni, Paisley Haney, Mackenzie McCord, Willie “IV” and Samuel Lyons, Harmony Johnson and Addie Kay Harrelson, Great-Great grandchildren: Jaxson, Cayden, Greyson Barnett, Lila and Miami Farrar, Luie, Felicity and Evelynne Haney, sisters-in-law: Gwen Everett and Melinda Johnson, Brother-in-law, Delano [Peggy] Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Wiggins and Rev. Linda Bratton officiating. Musical selections by Billy Bratton. A eulogy by Elaine McCord and Billy Bratton.
Interment followed at Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Miles, Carroll Hand, Lane Johnson, Andy Harrelson, Aaron Haney and Rodney Haney.
Honorary pallbearers were Allen Campbell, Hospice of Limestone County, our nurse and friend, Kegen Sullivan.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
