The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held a ceremony on Saturday, September 6, at the Appling County Courthouse memorial to commemorate the 238th anniversary of the drafting of the US Constitution. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism across the United States.
Mayor Tim Varnadore was present to deliver a proclamation declaring the week of September 17 through the 23 as Constitution Week, urging all citizens to study the Constitution and reflect on the privileges of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities that privilege involves.
