Lady Pirates Tennis going to State Semi-finals

The Lady Pirates Tennis Team will be traveling to Rome this week to play in the GHSA AA State Semi-Finals. They defeated Stevens County Lady Indians on Wednesday, April 30, with a score of 3-0. The Lady Pirates will leave on Thursday to travel to Rome and will play on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. If the Lady Pirates make it past the Semi-Finals on Saturday morning, they will play for the State Championship Saturday afternoon at the Berry College Tennis Center. The Lady Pirates will play Sonoraville High School Lady Phoenix. Sonoraville was ranked as the number five team going into the Playoffs with a regular season record of 10-4. The winner of this match will play the winner of Pierce County (and the winner of Columbus vs Morgan County) for the State Championship. The Lady Pirates have had a great season so far with going into the playoffs as the number one team. They ended the regular season undefeated and won the Region Championship. Travel up to Rome this weekend if you can and cheer on your Lady Pirates as they push for a state championship. GO LADY PIRATES!

During the Region meet in Blackshear, the Appling County boys and girls Track Team walked away with the Region Championship. From the Region meet 23 athletes made it to sectionals.

Sectionals proved to be successful and track members who made it through to State include Perri Mitchell, Moore Solomon, Dakaiyah Heller, Maddy Williams, Honestii Norton, Ky’laiyah Smith, Bryce Spivey, Damaricus Green, Noah Henderson, Jaiden Knight, Zaniya McKenzie, Amya Nails, Reagan Mitchell, Radish’s Smith, Jaiden Knight, Kemoni Ryals, Mikel Crayton, Jeremaine McMillan, Shamiah Barnum, J’Mari James, Dawson Zacher, and Jamiya Brooks.
