DIANE S. CARTER

Mrs. Diane S. Carter, 80, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Appling Nursing & Rehab Pavilion, after an extended illness. Diane was born in Lakeland, Florida, and later moved to Appling County, where she has lived for the past 47 years. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Diane was a seamstress and a bus driver for the Appling County Board of Education, but mostly a housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, vacuum, and spend time in the mountains, especially Maggie Valley, North Carolina.
Mrs. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, J.L. and Pinkie Spring, and her brother, Danny Spring.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Errol Carter; her son, Kenny Carter (Tommie); her daughters, Kerri Carter and Melina Edmund; her fifteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Zion Baptist Church, with Brother James Minilk and Brother Wayne Williamson officiating. Visitation was held one hour before the service. Inurnment followed in the church cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pavilion “B” Hall staff and the Community Hospice of Vidalia staff.
