Appling County Middle School held the annual School Spelling Bee on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Team winners from each grade level participated. They were Jayce Hall, David Hayes, Gunner Bass, Maggie Cowan, Glenn Shumans, Emma Prencke, Kallen Blandin, Gracie Stewart, and Luke Campbell. Seventh grader Glenn Shumans claimed the ACMS Spelling Bee champion title by spelling the word “riveting” for the win, while Gracie Stewart, an eighth grader, was declared the school alternate.
Glenn, as the school winner, will compete in the County Spelling Bee Competition on January 16, 2026, at the Appling County Board of Education. Gracie will represent Appling County Middle School as the school alternate. The ACMS faculty, staff, and student body would like to congratulate both students for their achievements.
