It is my hope that the headline says it all with regard to the Appling County High School Pirate Brigade’s performance at Friday night’s football game and Saturday’s band festival competition in Effingham County.
Friday night’s football game had an exciting finish with our Pirates defeating the Yellow Jackets of Wayne. Following the game I walked across the field to the Wayne County side to take pictures of the Pirate Brigade’s performance for the newspaper this week. I’m certainly glad I did.
The Brigade has been honing its show each week preparing for competition season. This year’s show is a salute to this country’s greatest generation, the men and women of the World War II generation and our military. Friday night I was able to witness the Pirate Brigade’s show in all its splendor with all the props and actors that go along with this year’s performance. Wow! It is superb! I can’t wait for the entire home audience to witness the show at Jimmy Swain Stadium.
In my opinion, this is the best performance I have ever witnessed the Brigade perform, and that is saying a lot as I have witnessed hundreds of performances by the band throughout my years of covering football games.
Thank you to Band Director Jonathan Hickox, Asst. Director Jim Perry, Pirate Brigade students and everyone who is involved with this year’s performance. Outstanding job!
