In the spring of 1991, I was gearing up to begin a new chapter in my life as I was preparing to graduate from ACHS. It’s hard to believe it has been 30 years since I took that journey that many will be taking this week. I can assure you that as I helped design the graduation issue inside the week’s special section, I identify with very few of the graduates individually. I identify with graduates by their last names and assume that he or she is the child of this person or that person (probably someone I graduated with or attended school with).
To the Class of 2021, you have endured a lot in your young lives…you survived a pandemic for goodness’ sake. I encourage you to enjoy every moment on this journey and don’t forget to thank God, your parents and teachers for helping you reach this major accomplishment. Know that the entire community is proud of you, as evidenced in this week’s issue.
Dare to dream big and set goals in your life. I personally wish you the very best that life has to offer and leave you with the following from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.”
