Reginald Tyron Stokes was indicted in Appling Superior Court on December 2 for one count of malice murder, one count of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of cruelty to children in the third degree.
According to a news release by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in August, Stokes, 38, of Baxley, was arrested on August 28 for one count of felony murder, one count of malice murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and four counts of cruelty to a child in the third degree, in connection to the death of Malika Shanae’ Harris. Stokes was apprehended in Warwick, by Worth County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and taken to the Appling County Jail. The GBI Douglas office recognized the assistance provided by Worth County and Crisp County Sheriff’s Offices in the location and arrest of Reginald Stokes.
On Thursday, August 25, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the GBI Douglas Regional Office was requested by the Baxley Police Department to conduct a death investigation. Preliminary information indicated a relative of Stokes made a 911 call to operators in Worth County at approximately 4:00 a.m., saying Stokes was involved in a shooting in Baxley. Officers went to a home at 85 Pine St., in Baxley.
When they arrived, officers found Malika Shanae’ Harris, 26, and Oneida Hawkins, 45, both from Baxley, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Harris was pronounced deceased at the scene. Hawkins was taken to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, for treatment. Hawkins later passed away.
Judge Robert W. Guy also indicted the following individuals in Appling Superior Court on December 2.
Terrance Mauriceo Bennett was indicted on one count each of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.
Samuel Jason O’Berry was indicted on two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, and one count of reckless driving.
Ashley Nicole Rowland aka Ashley Nicole Roland was indicted on one count each of aggravated assault, and possession of firearm during commission of a felony.
Zavala Jaime Espinoza was indicted on one count each of aggravated child molestation, and child molestation.
Louie Alonzo Pierce was indicted on one count each of terroristic threats and simple battery, family violence.
Justin Howard Herrington was indicted on one count of aggravated assault.
Ladonis Demetrius Cray was indicted on one count each of aggravated child molestation and child molestation.
Alejandro Galban Martinez was indicted on one count each of terroristic threats and cruelty to children in the third degree.
Kenneth Lamar Jones was indicted on one count each of aggravated assault, criminal damage to property in the second degree, and obstruction of an officer.
Kiara Monique McGee was indicted on two counts of obstruction of an officer.
Tanya Lynn Evans was indicted on one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a schedule II-controlled substance greater than four grams.
Tracy Lyle Harrelson was indicted on one count of possession of methamphetamine.
Kenneth Stacy Higgins was indicted on one each of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule II-controlled substance greater than four grams.
Floyd Lee Pitts was indicted on one count of possession of methamphetamine.
Bradford Dane Godwin was indicted on one count of possession of methamphetamine.
Jarod Kendrell Mumford was indicted on one count each of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Cheryl Ann Newmans was indicted on one count of possession of a Schedule IV-controlled
Sabrina Mae Rogers was indicted on two counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
