Pirate basketball team  remains perfect on season

The Appling County High School Pirate basketball team remains undefeated so far in the 2021 season. The team is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-AAA competition. Head Coach Rufus McDuffie has the Pirates firing on all cylinders so far this season.

On Friday night the Pirates trampled the Warriors of Tattnall County in a region matchup. The Pirates, led by big men Darris Smith and Gage Lott in the backcourt, proved to be too strong for the Warriors. At the end of the game, the score was 76-37.

On Saturday night the Pirates hosted the Yellow Jackets of Jeff Davis. Again Appling proved to be the better team on the hard court, defeating the Jackets by a score of 58-39.

So far this season the Pirates have outscored their opponents 333 – 197.

This week the team will be on the road with games at Pierce County on Tuesday night at 7:30, Long County on Friday night at 6:30 and Jeff Davis County on Saturday night at 7:30. The next home game will be on Tuesday, January 26, against Brantley County at 7:30 p.m.
