William Wendell Carter, 78, of Baxley passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.  

Mr. Carter was born October 8, 1942 in Baxley to the late William Henry Carter and the late Dimple Bennett Carter. Before retiring, he was a mechanic at Plant Hatch. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Carol Peacock Carter of Baxley; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jack Patton of Baxley; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Pat Williams of Baxley and Betty Horne of Baxley; brothers and sister-in-law, Darrell and Wanda Carter of Surrency and Everett Carter of Baxley; two grandchildren, Hope (Kyle) Pittman of Lyons and Gage Patton of Baxley; two great grandchildren, Greer Pittman and Granger Pittman both of Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Barry Teutsch and Rev. Bryant Bishop officiating.  

Interment followed in the church cemetery.  

Musical selections were rendered by the Friendship Congregational Christian Church Choir.
