WILLIAM “CLAY”  ALLEN

Swain Funeral Home announces the death of William “Clay” Allen, 80, of Baxley, who died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Pavilion. 

Mr. Allen was born June 14, 1940 in Apex, North Carolina to the late William Glenwood Allen and the late Mary Womble Allen.  He was a member of Sand Hill Creek Church.  Mr. Allen served in the United States Army and was a retired Tom’s Distributor and a farmer.   

In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his former wife, Bebe Orvin Allen, a brother, Carl “Bud” Allen and sister, Gaylia York. 

Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Allen of Baxley; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Stephanie Allen and John and Miranda Allen all of Baxley; step-son and step- daughter-in-law, Howard and Melisha Scott of Baxley; sister, Elaine Allen of Raleigh, NC. Seven grandchildren also survive. 

A graveside service was held Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Omega Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Page officiating. 

Active pallbearers were Hunter Allen, Dock Allen, Tony Cabiness, Tim Hipps, Justin McLellan and Andy Orvin.  

Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.  

Music was rendered by Floyd Hunter. 

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sand Hill Creek Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 262, Baxley, Ga. 31515. 

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
