Samuel Jackson Harris, 28, of Bristol, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his residence.
Sam was born September 30, 1993 in Douglas. He was a 2012 Graduate of Appling County High School and a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Sam was a heavy equipment operator and a jack of all trades. He was known for his compassionate personality and loving bear hugs.
Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Peggy Harris, and aunt, Ginger Harris.
Survivors include his parents, Steven and Melissa Harris; sister, Sarah Harris; maternal grandparents, Dale and Betty Wickham; aunts and uncles, Stan and Misty Harris, Rufus and Crystal Harris, and Jeff and Dee Wickham; and cousins, Morgan Harris, Whitney Harris, Braxton Harris, Grayson Harris, and Jonathon Odom. Several great aunts, great uncles, and extended family members also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Jacob Bell, Stan Harris, and Cameron Mattingly officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Walt Deal, Braxton Harris, Will Hutto, Chandler Morris, Steven Hughes, Matthew Harris, D’undre Byrd, and Jonathon Odom.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Charlie Lightsey and Lynn Thornton.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
