Mrs. Reatha Mae Carter was born in Appling County to the late Laura Mae and Roosevelt Hood, Sr. She answered the voice of the Lord to enter into eternal rest on February 3, 2021 at the Southeastern Healthcare in Brunswick after an extended illness.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ in Surrency. She loved her family, but most importantly of all, she loved God. She was an awesome cook. Reatha was a woman who pursued peace with everyone. Her presence will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Laura Mae and Roosevelt Hood, Sr., son, James Wesley Clemons, and her brothers, Andrew Lee Hood and Roosevelt Hood, Jr.,
Reatha leaves to cherish loving memories with her husband, Lennie H. Carter of Baxley, five children, Viginia Fergusonn (Rudolph) of Glenwood, Christopher Clemons (Natasha), Tracey Clemons, and Felicia Clemons, all of Baxley, and Angela Darling of Alma, three brothers, Samuel Hayward of St. Augustine, FL, Henry Hood (Felita) and Paul James, both of Baxley, three sisters, Pearlie Pearsey (Vernard) and Shirley Paulk, both of Baxley, and Verdell Tinsley (Jerome) of Balmon, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hood of Baxley, grandson she raised as her own, Chris Clemons, Jr. of Baxley, 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, two very special friends, Carolyn Holmes and Daisy Harrell, both of Baxley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held at St. Paul Church of God in Christ on February 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with the Pastor Kenneth Wells giving the eulogy.
Active pallbearers were Shane Gillis, Roosevelt Hood III, Norris Pearsey, Vernon Dasher, Greg Paulk and Henry Dasher.
Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Barnes, Nathan Clemons, Thaddeus Russell, Javon Clemons and Jarvus Wilcox.
Flower attendants were family and friends.
Musical selections were rendered by Mr. Kendray King and Mr. Anthony Moore.
Professional services were entrusted to C. M. Brown Funeral Home.
