Peggy Yawn Lott, 86, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Lakeview Retirement Home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
Mrs. Lott was born on November 26, 1936 in Jeff Davis County to the late Theodore Roosevelt Yawn and the late Sadie Williams Yawn. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and was a farmer and homemaker. She was an officer and member of the Altamaha Homemakers’ Club. Mrs. Lott was a former member of the Appling County Young Farmers and the Altamaha Fire Department. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Eugene Lott; grandson, Jonathan Wayne Lott; and a great-granddaughter, Hadley Brooke Beasley; brothers, Wilton Yawn and Buster Yawn; and a sister, Barbara Yawn Prim.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly (William) Cauley of Soperton and Janine (Jimmy) Hunter of Baxley; son, Wayne (Tammie) Lott of Baxley; sisters, Carolyn Ridenour of Crumpler, NC, Glynis Carter of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Magnuson of Grassy Creek, NC, Lynette Krawiec of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Rose Yawn of Baxley; and six grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn, Rev. Benji McReady and Rev. Michael Beecher officiating and a eulogy by Jana Yawn. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Hunter, Grant Beasley, Brandon Harrelson, Will Cauley, Daniel Williamson, Jason Funderburke, Mason Funderburke and Kadan Williamson.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Hospice of South Georgia, staff of Lakeview Retirement Home, former caregivers, Midway Baptist Church Senior Ladies’ Sunday School Class, Caroline Anderson and staff, and all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by the Midway Quartet and Floyd Hunter.
