Kathy Ann Gibbs was born December 23, 1958 in Naylor to Morris Lane, Sr. and Margaret “Betty” Scott. She was the sixth born of fourteen children.
Kathy graduated with the Class of 1976 from Lowndes High School in Valdosta. She was a member of Second Pleasant Hill Church and sang in Surrency Grove Choir. Kathy worked at Church’s Chicken as General Manager for 8 years and as a Healthcare Provider at Pineland for 9 years. Additionally, she was a substitute teacher for the Lowndes County School System for many years.
Kathy was called to rest on January 11, 2021 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Lane, her father, Morris Lane, Sr, and two brothers, Theodis Lane and Allan Lane.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Troy Gibbs, her daughter, Keneshia Register (Willie) of Atlanta, her son, Christopher Goethie (Fab) of Savannah, one God-son, Naitrez, two God-daughters, Kimberly Grooms (Punkin) of Tampa, Florida and Tashara Harden (Jane) of Valdosta, eleven siblings, Morris Lane Jr. (Josephine) and Janice Locklear, both of Naylor, Cleveland Lane (Diana) of Tampa, Florida, Elese Blue (Woody) of Donaldsonville, Ella Mae Haggie, Lucilla Griffin (Johnny), and Darren Lane (Fatina), all of Valdosta, Ronnie Lane and Joan Lane Williams (Charles) both of Ellenton, Florida, Darlene Lane Rhodes of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Dorothy Jefferson of Bradenton, Florida, sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren (and one on the way), mother-in-law, Flossie White of Surrency, one sister-in-law, Latrell Wilson two brothers-in-law, Dewayne White (Simone) of Baxley, and Lothair White of Surrency, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services were held at Surrency Grove Baptist Church on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with the Pastor Jermaine Lane giving the eulogy. Repast followed at Second Pleasant Hill.
Musical selections were rendered by MJ and Family.
Professional services were entrusted to C. M. Brown Funeral Home.
