Joseph “Lance” Atkins, 51, of Odum and the K-Ville community died Monday, November 22, 2021. The Appling County native was an Appling County High School graduate and a member of the Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a retired employee of AT&T. He enjoyed all hunting activities, especially dog hunting, as well as fishing. Predeceased by his father, Ronnie Atkins and a brother, Ronald B. Atkins, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years; Barbara Roper Atkins of Odum; mother, Cynthia Lightsey Atkins; sister, Christy (Jon) Mead; brother, Mark (Marla) Atkins all of K-Ville community; sister, Rhonda Atkins of Vidalia; step children, Michael and Tony Holbert, Chris Garrett and Robin Nieto; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2021 from Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, One Big Creek Church, Rd, Screven, GA 31560 with Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Active pallbearers were Tim Howard, Corey Wainright, Levi Hancock, George Ahl, Terry Boatright, Brad Carter, W.R. “Chester” Lightsey and Wallace “B.B.” Lightsey. Family received friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the church prior to services.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of the arrangements.
